At Reflections Dental Health Centre, our dentists perform a wide variety of oral surgical procedures in order to treat dental issues and improve your oral health.
What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery includes the diagnosis and surgical treatment of injuries, defects, conditions and diseases affecting the hard and soft tissues of your face, mouth, jaw and teeth.
While our dentist always use the least invasive treatment option possible for a given dental health issue, less invasive treatment options are often simply not sufficient and oral surgery is required.
A dental implant is a small screw made from titanium that functions like the natural root of a tooth. Our dentists place dental implants as a first step in the process of replacing a missing tooth and restoring your smile. Together with a tooth replacement like a crown or bridge, dental implants feel much like a natural tooth.
Gum grafts are a procedure where gum tissues are taken from the roof of a patient's mouth and transplanted onto a different area of their gums. A gum graft can help to cover exposed tooth roots, repair receding gums and reduce associated symptoms like severe tooth sensitivity and eventual tooth loss.
When it is possible, it is always preferable to save a natural tooth, but there are some cases where a tooth needs extracting. If one of your teeth are badly damaged as a result of injury, gum disease or decay it may require removal by your dentist.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars that erupt from the back corners of a normally-developed adult mouth. If wisdom teeth are causing issues for your oral hygiene or dental health, our dentists may recommend removing them in order to help preserve your oral health.
A frenectomy procedure to eliminate a frenum, a small piece of tissue that connects your cheeks, tongue or lips to your gum area. Our dentists perform frenectomies for babies, children and adults when the frenum is restricting function, commonly referred to as tongue-tied, lip-tied or cheek-tied.
Bone Grafts & Sinus Lifts
A bone graft is a procedure where your dentist adds bone tissue to your jaw bone, making it strong enough to support a dental implant. A sinus lift is a type of bone graft where your dentist adds bone material to the upper back jaw to raise and increase the amount of bone in the sinus area to place a dental implant.
